The indian wedding is called Vivaha.

In Hinduism, marriage is very important. It is mostly known to be a colorful ceremoni with much lewelry. When the engagement is planned, the father "gives" away his daughter to a man, the mother and father of the woman has already chosen. Though forced marriage is rare, all she can say, is her oppinion about the man her parents chose.

 

The wedding is divided by three steps:

Kanyadaan(giving the daughter away),

Panigrahana(Holding hand near a fire for union) 

Saptadi( Take seven steps forward while holding hands)

At Saptadi, Each step makes a promise and vows between the couple, which is to be accepted. Otherwhise, the wedding is not over. 

The whole thing can last a week.
